General Policy

Purpose:


	•	To develop policy and goals for evaluating and selecting transportation for the event
	•	To access sustainability attributes of transport options during the planning process and incorporate sustainability into overall operations

Energy

Purpose:


	•	To promote the use of renewable, alternative fuel and fuel efficient vehicles
	•	To recognize some required unavoidable carbon intensive air travel and hence, minimizing ground transport will carry a greater impact

Activities Implemented


	1.	Identify locations with extensive public transport network
	2.	Employ vehicles using renewable or alternative fuels
	3.	Extensively promote vehicle pooling or use of public transport
	4.	Calculate average attendee transport distance to and from event
	5.	Calculate emissions impact from ground transport related to this event
	6.	Offset event transport emissions through certified emissions reductions programmes

Air Quality

Purpose:


	•	To promote improvements in overall air quality

Activities


	1.	Implement an idling reduction programme
	2.	Identify freight forwarders with certified GHG emissions embedded in their logistic systems
